Obesity issue is particularly worried in the USA where the rates of obese people increase dangerously. Even if many countries have experienced significant increases in obesity, no other developed country is quite as heavy as the USA. In the early 1960’s the average American male weighed 168 pounds. Today, he weighs nearly 180 pounds. Over the same time, the average American female weight rose from 142 to 152 pound. In the early 1970’s, 14 percent of the American population was classified as medically obese. Now, obesity rates are more than two times higher and medical experts consider obesity to be at epidemic proportions. The rising epidemic reflects the profound changes in the American society and behavioral patterns over recent decades. These societal changes and the famous American junk food trends are driving the obesity epidemic and are making the USA the fattest country in the world.
