Extrait
Deterrence is at the core of the security strategy of nuclear powers. Policymakers are constantly reassessing the relevance of their nuclear doctrine. Recently, an article from a Parisian newspaper asserted that French dissuasion was in the midst of a revolution. I believe it is important to analyze the information publicly available about the new French approach to deterrence because nuclear powers are adapting their unconventional military capabilities to cope with asymmetric situations involving weapons of mass destruction. I hope that the findings of this paper can contribute to the strategic debate here and abroad.
